Nana Otedola, the wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola and mother of Nigerian DJ Cuppy, has finally addressed long-standing questions about her background and identity.
For years, some people have assumed that Nana was Ghanaian because of her name and appearance.
However, the businesswoman has now clarified that she is proudly Nigerian and traces her roots to the Egba people of Abeokuta, Ogun State. In a recent video conversation with her daughter, Temi Otedola, Nana explained that she wanted to clear up the misunderstanding surrounding her heritage.
She said: “To clear the room for everybody, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian. I am not a Ghanaian; my roots are in Abeokuta.”Nana revealed that part of the confusion may have come from her upbringing, as she was born in Kaduna State and spent nearly two decades living there.
Despite her strong connection to Kaduna, she maintained that her cultural roots remain tied to Egba land in Ogun State.
The revelation has sparked reactions online, with many fans praising her for sharing more about her family history, while others expressed curiosity about her full ancestry and personal story. The conversation around Nana’s identity comes after her daughter DJ Cuppy recently celebrated her mother with an emotional tribute, sharing memories and appreciating the role she has played in her life.Meanwhile, her husband Femi Otedola had previously attracted attention after rumours about their marriage circulated online.
The billionaire responded to the speculation by sharing moments from his vacation rather than making a public statement.
