Ebuka opens up on smoking 40 cigarettes daily as Banky W speaks on porn addiction

Popular media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has opened up about his past struggle with nicotine addiction, revealing that he smoked as many as 40 cigarettes every day for 13 years.

Speaking during a recent episode of his podcast, Mentality with Ebuka, the TV host shared that he started smoking while in JSS3 because of peer pressure and the desire to fit in.

According to him, the habit quickly became serious before he got into university, where he was already consuming about two packs of cigarettes daily.

Ebuka explained that quitting smoking did not happen through a dramatic decision, but through a personal challenge he gave himself to stay away from cigarettes for as long as possible.

He revealed that the last cigarette he smoked was in February 2008, and he has remained smoke-free ever since.Singer and pastor Banky W also spoke honestly about his past battle with pornography addiction during the conversation.

Banky W recalled how his addiction started during his university days in New York after explicit content became easily accessible in his dormitory.

He admitted that overcoming the habit was much harder than he initially imagined.

He said the experience made him realise he was dealing with a deeper struggle and added that healing required a conscious and intentional journey.

Medical influencer Aproko Doctor joined the discussion as the trio spoke openly about addiction, shame, recovery, and the importance of having difficult conversations around mental health and harmful habits.

The episode has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the celebrities for being open about their personal struggles.
