Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has finally reacted to the criticism that followed his performance at the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention.
The music star came under fire on social media after performing at the ruling party’s event at a time many Nigerians continue to express concerns over insecurity and economic hardship in the country.
Several critics accused the rapper of supporting the government instead of speaking out about the challenges facing citizens.
Speaking during a recent episode of the Black Box podcast, Ice Prince explained that his decision to perform was personal and connected to his family relationship with the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
According to him, the APC chairman is not just a political figure to him but also a close family member.“Who booked me for that event? My uncle — Nentawe Yilwatda who is the APC Chairman.
He is not just a random person to me. He is my real uncle,” he said.
His explanation has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some people defending his decision while others insist celebrities should be more vocal about national issues.
