Popular sports journalist Oma Akatugba has shared an interesting story about Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, revealing that the football star once turned down the advances of a Nigerian billionaire’s daughter.
According to Akatugba, the incident happened during Okoye’s time at Dutch club Sparta Rotterdam. While visiting the goalkeeper, he noticed a message from the daughter of a wealthy Nigerian businessman on Okoye’s phone.
Akatugba said he was surprised and encouraged the goalkeeper to give her a chance, pointing out her influential family background. However, Okoye reportedly declined, explaining that she was not the type of woman he was looking for.
Recounting the moment, Akatugba said he jokingly described the lady as a “big fish,” but Okoye remained unmoved by her status and wealth.Since making his debut for the Super Eagles in 2019, Okoye has attracted significant attention from fans, particularly because of his looks and physique. The admiration from female fans became so intense that the goalkeeper eventually confirmed he was already in a relationship.
Okoye is currently in a long-term relationship with Dutch model Jelicia Westhoff.
