A Nigerian woman, Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, is on the verge of making history as she attempts to set a new record for the longest Bible reading marathon.
Her challenge, titled “144 Hours in the Word,” began on June 22 at Novotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and is expected to conclude on July 2 if completed according to the required guidelines.
By Sunday morning, Habibat had already surpassed the 100-hour mark, bringing her closer to achieving the remarkable milestone.
Videos circulating on social media show her reading the Bible aloud from a lectern and desk while digital timers track her progress.
Family members, friends, and fellow church members have remained by her side, cheering her on throughout the marathon. The challenge requires participants to read continuously, with only brief breaks allowed for essential needs.
Habitat, who is a member of The Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, said her attempt is driven by faith and is meant to encourage more people to spend time studying the Scriptures. Her record attempt has attracted widespread attention online and adds to the growing number of endurance challenges undertaken by Nigerians in recent years. If successful, Habibat will add her name to the list of Nigerians making remarkable achievements in endurance-based world record attempts.
