Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale has stirred conversations online after launching a paid membership programme for supporters of his Shatta Movement fan base.
The musician unveiled the initiative as part of efforts to officially register members and build a structured database of his supporters.
Under the programme, fans are required to pay GH₵100 to receive a Gold Card membership, which Shatta Wale says will unlock access to exclusive benefits and premium services.
Announcing the initiative, the artiste explained that the goal is to give members a verified identity within the movement while creating stronger connections among supporters worldwide.
However, the announcement quickly divided opinion on social media. While some fans welcomed the move as a step towards building a more organised fan community, others questioned the decision to charge supporters for membership.
Critics argued that loyal fans should not have to pay to belong to a movement they have supported for years. Some also referenced Shatta Wale’s previous comments about his financial success, suggesting that fans should not be asked to contribute financially.
