Popular media personality and television host IK Osakioduwa has opened up about why he did not host the 2026 edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), ending a long-standing run that began with the award show’s debut in 2013.Speaking during an interview on The Morayo Show, IK explained that his absence had nothing to do with any disagreement with Africa Magic. Instead, he described the decision as a matter of timing, faith, and personal conviction.According to him, he believes strongly in being where God has destined him to be at the right moment.
He also emphasized that Africa Magic remains a special part of his career, describing the network as his first love in television and maintaining that their relationship remains cordial.
IK further revealed that his personal principles played a major role in his decision not to participate in this year’s ceremony.
He explained that he does not endorse alcohol or tobacco-related brands, and some of the event’s sponsorship arrangements did not align with his values. The veteran broadcaster said he felt he would not have been able to give the organisers the level of service and commitment they deserved if he participated under those circumstances.
The 2026 AMVCA was eventually hosted by Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha, who took over hosting duties for the prestigious awards ceremony.Despite missing this year’s event, IK’s comments suggest there is no bad blood between him and Africa Magic, leaving the door open for future collaborations.
