Nigerian singer BNXN has sparked conversation online after claiming that living in Lagos is more expensive than living in parts of the United States.
The artist, whose real name is Daniel Benson, recently revealed that he has relocated to the US. Speaking during a TikTok livestream, he shared his observations about life abroad and compared the cost of living in America to that of Lagos.According to BNXN, one of the biggest differences he has noticed is the absence of constant requests for money from strangers.
He noted that despite economic challenges in the US, people generally go about their lives without approaching others for financial assistance. The singer argued that Lagos has become extremely expensive, even suggesting that the city is costlier than Los Angeles in many respects.
While acknowledging that housing costs in Los Angeles are high, he maintained that many other daily expenses are more manageable.BNXN disclosed that he pays about $12,000 monthly in rent in the United States but appreciates the predictability of expenses there. He explained that once major bills are settled, residents can go about their daily lives without facing the additional pressures and informal financial demands that are common in Lagos.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions, with some agreeing that the cost of living in Lagos has risen sharply in recent years, while others argue that comparing the two cities depends largely on lifestyle, income level, and personal spending habits.
