Football legend David Beckham made a stylish appearance at Wimbledon on Monday, taking a break from his World Cup travels to enjoy the opening day of the prestigious tennis tournament.
Beckham attended the event with his mother, Sandra Beckham, as the pair watched the action from the Royal Box on Centre Court. They were joined by several well-known guests, including actor Mark Rylance and singer Ronan Keating.
Fans witnessed defending men’s champion Jannik Sinner begin his title defense against Miomir Kecmanovic. Women’s world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic were also scheduled to play their opening-round matches later in the day.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star has spent much of the month traveling across the United States to watch matches at the FIFA World Cup. He recently attended England’s final group-stage clash against Panama, as well as Scotland’s defeat to Brazil in Miami and England’s draw with Ghana near Boston.Now a businessman, fashion icon and co-owner of Inter Miami, Beckham briefly swapped football for tennis as he enjoyed one of Britain’s biggest sporting traditions.
