Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has strongly denied reports linking him to an alleged $75,000 romance scam and claims that he is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).The reports, which circulated online, alleged that the actor was invited for questioning over a complaint filed by a 49-year-old American woman who claimed she had been in an online relationship with someone posing as him since 2025.
Reacting to the allegations on his Instagram Story, Ogbonna described the reports as false, malicious, and completely unfounded. He stressed that he has never been involved in internet fraud, romance scams, or any other form of criminal activity.
The actor also warned fans and the general public to be cautious of fake social media accounts impersonating him. According to him, scammers have repeatedly used his name, photos, and identity to deceive unsuspecting people online.Ogbonna stated that he has never authorized anyone to represent him on social media, request money on his behalf, or engage in private conversations while pretending to be him.He urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to impersonators and catfish accounts exploiting his identity for fraudulent purposes.
