Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has finally spoken about the distance between herself and fellow actress Genevieve Nnaji, admitting she still does not fully understand what caused their once-close friendship to fade.
Speaking during an interview on the Tea with Tay podcast, Kate revealed that there was never any serious fight or public misunderstanding between them.
According to her, they simply grew apart over time.“We grew apart. Maybe she had some kind of mistrust about me. I don’t know what happened. I don’t know what came over her,” she said.
Kate explained that she and Genevieve used to spend a lot of time together and attended several events side by side, especially during the early Netflix era in Nigeria.
However, things slowly changed, and communication between them became less frequent.
The actress admitted that the sudden distance once left her wondering if she had done something wrong, but over time, she came to realise that Genevieve naturally prefers to keep to herself and often withdraws from people.
Interestingly, the two actresses later reunited on a Netflix commercial set in South Africa, and Kate said Genevieve was warm, friendly, and pleasant throughout the experience.“She was very pleasant to me, she was very nice,” Kate recalled.
Kate also reflected on how friendships evolve with time, explaining that not everyone is meant to stay forever in one’s life.“People are in your life for different seasons and reasons.
Some are roots, some are branches, some are leaves,” she said while describing the lessons she has learned after decades in the entertainment industry.
Her comments have since sparked conversations online, with many people praising both actresses for handling their relationship privately and maturely.
