Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has appealed to event organisers to stop scheduling his performances in the early hours of the morning, saying it drains his energy and affects the quality of his shows.
In a message shared on Facebook, the rapper explained that while he understands many fans outside Accra enjoy partying until dawn, performing at 4am has become physically exhausting for him.
According to Sarkodie, his energy levels are usually at their peak until about 1am, after which his body naturally begins to slow down.
He noted that performing much later makes it difficult for him to give fans the lively stage performance they expect.
The rapper pleaded with organisers to place his performances earlier in event line-ups so audiences can enjoy the best version of him on stage. He also stressed that performing around 4am is not healthy or normal for the human body, adding that the experience leaves him extremely tired.
His comments have since sparked reactions online, with many fans agreeing that artistes should perform earlier, while others argued that late-night performances have long been part of Ghana’s concert and nightlife culture.
