Nigerian music stars Tems, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake have earned nominations for the 2026 BET Awards, further highlighting the global rise of Afrobeats.Tems leads the Nigerian nominees with three nominations.
She was nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her for her song First, and also earned a Viewers’ Choice nomination through her feature on Dave’s track Raindance.Wizkid and Asake received a joint nomination in the Best Group category, while Burna Boy secured a Best Collaboration nomination for his feature on Gunna’s song wgft.
The 2026 BET Awards will take place on June 28 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. Popular comedian Druski is set to host this year’s ceremony, becoming the youngest host in the award show’s history.International stars also dominated several major categories.
Cardi B emerged as one of the most nominated artists this year, earning recognition in categories including Album of the Year, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Viewers’ Choice, and Best Collaboration.Other top nominees include Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, SZA, Tyler, the Creator, J. Cole, Chris Brown, Usher, Brent Faiyaz, and South African singer Tyla.
