Nollywood actor Fred Ebere, popularly known as Tenkobo, has publicly criticized Stella Maris Okafor, the widow of late comic actor John Okafor, widely known as Mr Ibu, over her recent appeal for financial assistance.

Stella Maris recently appeared in a video asking Nigerians to support her, saying she was struggling to pay her house rent and her children’s school fees.Reacting to the video, Tenkobo accused her of repeatedly using the late actor’s name to seek public sympathy.

According to him, Mr Ibu worked hard during his lifetime, earned good money from Nollywood, and invested in several properties.

The actor questioned why Stella was presenting the situation as though her late husband left nothing behind.Tenkobo claimed that Mr Ibu owned several houses and landed properties, alleging that some of those assets had already been sold after the actor’s death.

He called on Stella and other family members to explain what happened to the proceeds from those sales. He also stressed that being the wife of a respected actor should not stop someone from working or learning a skill to support themselves.Sharing details of a conversation he had with Mr Ibu’s first son, Valentine Okafor, Tenkobo said the family was deeply affected by the public appeal.

He also dismissed claims that Chelsea is Mr Ibu’s only daughter, stating that the late actor had several children. While he said he has no problem with anyone asking for help during difficult times, Tenkobo insisted that the public should not be made to believe that Mr Ibu failed to provide for his family or left behind no investments. He maintained that the late actor planned his life well and made significant investments before his passing. The comments have sparked mixed reactions online, with some people supporting Tenkobo’s position while others believe Stella Maris has every right to seek help if she is facing financial hardship.Mr Ibu passed away two years ago after battling health challenges, and discussions surrounding his family and estate have continued to attract public attention.
