Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has expressed frustration with the music industry, describing it as “very wicked” over what he sees as a lack of support from fellow artistes.
The “Chanel” crooner took to X, formerly Twitter, to complain that many of his colleagues failed to promote his latest release despite the support he regularly shows them whenever they drop new music.
According to Blaqbonez, he often reposts and promotes songs from both local and international artistes on his social media pages, but the same energy is rarely returned when it comes to his own projects.“I think this industry is very wicked because since I dropped Chanel, none of my peers have posted it,” he wrote.
The rapper also mentioned international stars like Drake, Central Cee, Future and Gunna, saying he supports their music releases but receives silence in return from people within his own circle.
He went on to describe the situation as “double standards,” suggesting that support within the industry is often selective.
This is not the first time Blaqbonez has openly criticised the music industry.
In 2023, he accused some artistes of using streaming farms to artificially boost their numbers and manipulate music charts.
Although notable figures like Don Jazzy and Odumodublvck dismissed the allegations at the time, Blaqbonez insisted that stream farming was real and damaging the credibility of the Nigerian music industry.
Known for his outspoken personality, Blaqbonez has continued to spark conversations around competition, industry politics, and support among artistes in Afrobeats and hip-hop.
