Popular social media critic VeryDarkMan has fired back at presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga following the controversy surrounding an alleged AI-generated audio clip linked to him.
The drama started after the Presidency vowed to take legal action against the activist over a viral audio said to imitate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s voice.
In the controversial clip, the voice allegedly claimed that insecurity in Nigeria would continue because Nigerians did not vote for Tinubu during the 2023 election.
Reacting in a video shared on his social media page, VeryDarkMan strongly criticised Bayo Onanuga, calling him “daft” and accusing the government of focusing on the wrong issues while insecurity continues to worsen across the country.
Although he refused to defend the AI-generated audio, the activist questioned why the Presidency had not spoken strongly about the recent kidnapping incident involving teachers and students in Oyo State.
According to him, reports claimed one of the kidnapped teachers was killed while the victims remain in captivity despite the Children’s Day celebration.
VeryDarkMan argued that government officials are more concerned about online controversies than addressing serious security challenges affecting Nigerians.
The social media personality also stated that many people would not even believe the viral audio, insisting that the attention being given to it was unnecessary.
The heated reaction has since sparked fresh conversations online, with many Nigerians debating freedom of speech, AI misinformation, and the country’s security situation.
