Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has sparked conversation after making bold claims about his performance fees and career choices.According to him, he earns as much as $1 million for a single show in Ghana and receives a level of respect locally that he compares to global superstars like Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
He explained that because of this recognition and financial reward at home, he has little interest in chasing international performances. Shatta Wale added that smaller booking offers abroad do not appeal to him, saying he would rather decline a $300,000 offer if the promoter is not willing to meet his expected value.
His comments have triggered mixed reactions online, with some fans praising his confidence and perceived impact on Ghana’s entertainment industry, while others question the accuracy of the figures and the comparison with global acts.
The statement continues to fuel debate around artist valuation, local versus international success, and how African musicians position themselves in the global music market.
