A legal dispute has emerged within the family of late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, as his brothers have filed a court petition challenging how his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, has managed his multimillion-dollar estate.
According to court filings, Boseman’s brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, are asking a Los Angeles court to compel Ledward to distribute estate funds to family members and remove her as the administrator of the estate.
They claim she has failed to carry out the court-ordered distribution of assets and has not been transparent in managing the estate.Boseman passed away in August 2020 at the age of 43 after a private battle with colon cancer.
He died without leaving a will, and his estate, valued at approximately $3.8 million, was later divided by the court. Under the ruling, Ledward was awarded 50% of the estate, while Boseman’s parents were each granted 25%. Ledward was also appointed to oversee the estate.
The new court filing, submitted on behalf of Boseman’s parents, alleges that the estate has still not been fully distributed and accuses Ledward of maintaining complete control over its management. The family also claims they have been excluded from information regarding the company responsible for managing Boseman’s image, likeness, and intellectual property rights.
The petition argues that the continued delays are causing financial hardship for Boseman’s elderly parents and prolonging emotional pain for the family.In a public statement, Boseman’s brothers said they are seeking transparency, accountability, and respect throughout the legal process. They emphasized that their goal is to protect their brother’s legacy while ensuring the court’s decisions are properly carried out.Ledward, who married Boseman just days before his death after several years together, has not publicly responded to the allegations.
