Nigerian singer Bloody Civilian has shared how her journey as an artiste has changed the way she views some of the traditional expectations she grew up with.
During a recent podcast appearance, the 26-year-old singer explained that pursuing a career in music has influenced her perspective on life, especially when it comes to issues such as marriage and societal expectations.
According to the singer, some of the values her family considers important no longer hold the same appeal for her.
She revealed that while her family often brings up the topic of marriage, it is not something she is currently interested in.Bloody Civilian said her relatives sometimes struggle to understand that her priorities and outlook on life have evolved since becoming an artiste.
She noted that, despite the pressure she receives, marriage is not something she is actively thinking about or planning for at the moment.The singer added that many of the conventional expectations placed on women, particularly those from Northern Nigeria, are simply not goals she feels excited about pursuing right now.
Her comments have sparked conversations about personal choice, family expectations, and the freedom to define success and happiness on one’s own terms.
