Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has reached another major milestone in his career, becoming the first African artist to top the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.
The historic achievement came through his World Cup collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira titled Dai Dai, which climbed to the number one spot on this week’s chart.
The song also secured the top position on the Billboard Global 200 Excluding U.S. chart. In the United States, it continued its impressive run by jumping 12 places to a new peak of No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100.Another Nigerian star, Tems, is also enjoying remarkable success.
Her hit song What You Need rose five spots to reach a new peak of No. 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending 15 weeks on the chart.The song recently topped both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart, making Tems the first solo African artist to achieve those milestones.The latest chart performances highlight the growing global influence of African music, with Burna Boy and Tems continuing to break records and take Afrobeats to new heights.
