Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has sparked conversation online after urging Nigerians, especially Christians, to combine prayer with real-life action when addressing the country’s growing problems.
In a message shared on her social media page, she said issues like bad roads, insecurity, failing hospitals, and economic struggles cannot be solved through prayer alone.
According to her, while prayer is important for guidance and strength, it must be backed by practical efforts from both leaders and citizens if real change is to happen.
She explained that everyday necessities such as food do not appear through prayer alone but through human effort—farming, transportation, preparation, and distribution.
Njoku stressed that development in key sectors like infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and the economy requires deliberate planning, accountability, and hard work, not only spiritual declarations. Her comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some agreeing with her call for responsibility, while others argued that faith still plays a central role in solving national problems.
