Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about one of his biggest future goals in the music business — taking back ownership of his music catalogue.
Speaking on an episode of The Long Form podcast, the singer explained that while he currently has a good record deal, ownership remains the most important part of building long-term success in the industry.
Davido revealed that he intends to buy back his music masters from his international record label, Sony, before stepping away from music.
According to him, owning his catalogue would allow him to secure a lasting financial legacy for his children through music royalties.
He explained that once he regains ownership, his plan is to assign his songs and earnings in a way that continues benefiting his family even after retirement.
For Davido, the conversation goes beyond fame and hit songs—it is about understanding the business side of entertainment and building generational wealth through creative ownership.
