Duchess Meghan highlighted the produce she grows and tasted innovative dishes featuring Australian ingredients during a recent appearance on a cooking competition.
Speaking on the show, she pointed to a selection of local ingredients available to the contestants. The options included Australian honey, lemons, macadamia nuts, apples, Jerusalem artichokes, celeriac and quince.
While discussing the vegetables, she also mentioned Brussels sprouts, noting: “My kids eat Brussels sprouts.”she added that strawberries and mandarins are among the fruits she grows at home, giving viewers a glimpse of her personal garden.
The episode featured judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli as they watched chefs work to complete their dishes. With 30 minutes left on the clock, the judges invited the Duchess to make the time call to the contestants.
One of the standout moments came when she tasted a celeriac ice cream created by one of the chefs. She responded enthusiastically to the dish, which went on to earn its creator the first of three spots in the finale.
The appearance combined Meghan’s interest in cooking and homegrown food with the competition’s focus on Australian produce. From orchard fruits to root vegetables, the ingredient list reflected a seasonal, farm-to-table approach that the judges and guest encouraged throughout the challenge.
By the end of the episode, three chefs had secured places in the final round, with the celeriac ice cream dish marking an early highlight.
